North West Surrey Alliance in Action newsletter, Spring 2024

Welcome to the fifth edition of our Alliance in Action newsletter.

Welcome to the fifth edition of our Alliance in Action newsletter.

Over the past six months there has been huge progress towards the Business Units which provides us with huge opportunities towards bringing about long-term change and transformation for the benefit of our teams and local communities. You can read more about our progress on pages 4 and 5.

I want to thank all our partner organisations for their hard work in laying such solid foundations for the Business Units, with many colleagues making time and space amongst already busy roles. On top of that we are in the thick of the winter period and have had episodes of industrial action to work around and I am proud to say we have dealt with this very successfully; well done.

I wanted to also take this opportunity to update you on some news. Since 8 January, I have taken up an additional role of Acting Chief Delivery Officer at Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals to develop Ashford Hospital as a leading elective centre. This is a fantastic opportunity to build a top-quality facility that can have a tremendous impact on people locally, which you can read more about on page 8.

Christine Armitage, the Alliance Director of Transformation, will throughout this period, be providing day-to-day leadership input across the Alliance to ensure momentum on all our important developments is maintained.

I want to thank all our exceptional partner organisations, our colleagues and our community who have invested to build a better way of operating collectively and collaboratively. Even when under immense individual pressure, you have all been an inspiration and have ultimately delivered better joined up care for residents and patients.

I really am astonished when I look back over the past few years to see how much we have achieved together. Our Alliance ‘One Year On’ strategy document really brings this to life, which you can find on page 6.

If you have a story that you would like included in this newsletter to showcase the amazing work we are doing as a partnership then please let the Alliance communications and engagement team know. It is important that we highlight all the incredible work we are all doing.

I hope you enjoy this edition of the newsletter.

Jack Wagstaff

Place Leader and Alliance Chief Officer
